The Freestyle Crystal Apple Award for Outstanding Achievement in Black & White Photography. Freestyle's goal this award is to provide greater support for students working in traditional black and white silver imaging processes. Freestyle is pleased and honored at the opportunity to give back to the photographic community that has supported them over the last six decades.

Freestyle Photographic Supplies is proud to recognize Mr. Joseph Small as the winner of the sixth annual Freestyle Crystal Apple Award for Outstanding Achievement in Black & White Photography. Mr. Small is a first year graduate student at the University of Notre Dame, and is an emerging artist of considerable talent. He was presented with a scholarship check of $5,000.00 on March 27th at the Society of Photographic Education (SPE) 2009 National Conference held in Dallas, Texas.

Freestyle is also proud to recognize Martina Lopez, Joseph's sponsor and faculty mentor at the University, as the recipient of the prestigious Crystal Apple Trophy. The award was given in appreciation of her excellence in photographic education. Freestyle Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Patrick DelliBovi, was present at the convention to personally meet the winners and present the awards.

All light-sensitive B&W photographic processes are eligible for this award including alternative processes. Digital images will not be eligible. The Freestyle Crystal Apple Award for Outstanding Achievement in Black and White Photography is open to continuing full-time graduate or undergraduate students majoring/concentrating in photography at a degree or certificate-granting college or university.
